Kate Garraway, born on May 4, 1967 in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England, is a popular English journalist. While studying college in 1987, Kate worked in a toilet-roll factory where she operated the shrink-wrapping machine. After completing a BA in History and English at the Bath Spa University, Kate immediately had a chance to make it big in the media industry, after she was chosen to become an Independent TV News Trainee journalist with the BBC Radio Oxford around 1994. The following year, with an opportunity to become a reporter and news presenter, Garraway moved to “Central News”. Her journalism skills were evident and the head of news from Meridian Broadcasting took notice, offering Kate Garraway a job to become the main presenter for “Meridian Tonight.”

While working for Meridian Tonight, Kate Garraway was selected to be a part of the team of news presenters, who launched BBC News in 1997. The following year, Sky News head Nick Pollard offered Garraway a main anchor position for a breakfast show called “Sunrise,” where they discussed stories such as the Iraq bombing, the Turkish earthquakes and the Kosovo crisis, among others.

In 2000, Kate Garraway became a presenter for GMTV. In 2007, she joined BBC’s celebrity ballroom competition called “Strictly Come Dancing,” with pro dancer Anton du Beke. The duo survived the competition until week 7, with only eight celebrities hoping for the win. Aside from a short dancing gig, Kate Garraway has also appeared in numerous TV shows in ITV1, Channel 4 and BBC. For ITV1, Kate has appeared on “Loose Women,” “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?,” “Too Many Cooks” (2004), and “This Morning.” For Channel 4, Garraway hosted the “Ultimate Psychic Challenge” and appeared on “Beef Encounter,” “The F Word” and “Other People’s Breast Milk.”

Garraway also appeared on BBC Two’s “Have I got News for You” and the anniversary special “Shooting Stars” in 2008. She has also joined BBC One’s “The People’s Quiz” as a questioner in 2007 and made a guest appearance in Five’s “The Wright Stuff.” She has also hosted “Access Hollywood” for Living TV and presented ITV’s “The Biggest Loser” in 2009.

As of 2009, Kate Garraway is still presenting for GMTV, alongside Ben Shephard every Monday and Tuesday. Kate writes a weekly column in New Magazine. She was married to ITV Central producer Ian Rumsey, but divorced in 2002. Kate married psychotherapist Derek Draper in 2005. The couple, who lives in North London with their daughter named Darcey Mary Draper, is expecting another child due in July 2009.
